So i had no idea I even had the ability to feel this amount of jealousy. So don't ever think you have a particular defect, "covered" not that there is not freedom from  stuff but when pride tells you that you "don't have a problem with that particular sin, or vice or whatever," if you are a follower of Christ, watch out (be aware). Not that God is out to get us, but if he loves us he prunes us and allows our faults to be exposed to us so that we rely on his grace more and more and not on our oun ability to "battle sin" or whatever you want to call it. It stinks to know you are a lot crappier than you thought you  were, but it is nice to have a companion that walk with you through it, and a community that understands and encourages me through all of it.

Its been a while, but today I felt the need to address the dreaded issue of politics. In elections we as christians are constantly told to vote the issues. Meaning you vote for pro-life, ten commandment, prayer in schools that kind of thing. And while I am pro-life(that is a whole other discussion) and do love God's Law(it was my tutor for a very long time and it's lessons stick with me daily) I have to question this veiw of voting.

The only reason I say this is because up until 2 years ago we have had a republican congress and senate as well as a president for a very long time and there is still legal abortion. I could be wrong on this one, but wasn't the president a republican when this whole issue came up? The reason I say this is that just because politians may "take stands" on certian issues that you believe in does not mean that they are going to do anything about it. The ending of abortion for instance has been the platform that republicans have run on for quite sometime and yet it is still here. Where are the promises to end it?

So if abortion is your main issue in this election I would suggest that you look to what the canidate want and are able to do. Abortion is ugly and a horrible experience for everyone, it is traumatizing to the mother and death for the baby. It is aweful, but don't be clouded by people promising you an end through political means. Abortions ends when hearts change, not when presidents do. I am asking that you take a look at the canidates and what they want to do for the people of the country and the world. I know that the government is screwed up, but look at the candidates who will do the best with what we have right now.

I am a conservative, and a registered republican and have voted the "issues" or another word is voted "my conscience" but this year I will vote for the person who can change the veiw of this country throught the world. One that will open diplomacy with our current enimies. One who will end the war in iraq and god willing not start another one. One that is even keeled  and has the best chance at a bi-partisan convergance. There is only one out of the current three(the independents not withstanding) that seem to line up.

What if there was not Heaven? No reward at the end of the journey? No house encrusted with jewels on streets of Gold? What is this life was all that you were given to live, would you follow Christ?

What if there was no eternity, but all you had was now and the only reward was knowing Christ. No rewards for 'souls won' no crown of purity for 'living right', no robe of rightousness for being 'right' with God, but pure relationship with the Lord. Him knowing you and you knowing Him.

Basically what if intamacy is the point and not reward.

If you don't want to think about it, i understand, it is a hard think about, but I think eventually you will have to.

heaven and hell are not the point.

Intimacy, vulnerability, and relationship with God(all 3 in one) and PEOPLE(saved and unsaved, regardless of thier eternal 'destination') are the point. LOVE each other.

If you think love is not enough, then you have an issue you need to take to the cross, becuase God thought it was.

If you don't believe me, ask the Holy Spirit. See what he says about it.

Don't I too have the Holy Spirit?

I feel like crap all of the sudden, but I wanted to write something.

I am reading a book. It is dealing with holiness. That is such a interesting subject. It is written by one of those "emergent" church, post modern types. Holiness? Can it be a thing we do? Can it by a "lifestyle"? Or is it completely reliant on the work Christ is doing in you? Or a combination of both? Discuss, or not, I feel to crappy to write any more.

Oscar Time

2007 Oscar Contenders that I have seen and a quick review of each.

1408 - Fun and intense. Worth the rent

3:10 to Yuma - Unlike everyone else in the world I didn't like it. Just slow and i didn't care.

Balls of Fury - Suprisingly funny and moderately clean. Great Walken role.

Blades of Glory - Brilliant.

The Bourne Ultimatum - Watch the first two right before this one. I was lost because I hadn't seen them for a year or so.

Bug - Intense and very well acted.

Die Hard 4 - The movie didn't do it for me but Bruce's sidekick Justin Long did a good job. It is hard to pull off the snide synical sidekick, but I think he did great.

Disturbia - Another suprise. Worth the rent and Shia LaBeouf is turning into a fine actor.

Evan Almighty - Fun, clean movie.

The Ex - The biggest laughs I got all year. (But be aware of the "un-Rated" version. They cut about 30 minutes and it is horrible.)

Halloween - Rob Zombie shows that he's got the chops to play with the big boys. Gory and intense, but no worse than the 6:00 news.

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix - Lackluster

Hitman - Nothing Memorable.

I am Legand - Aside from the crappy CGI the storytelling was great.

I Think I Love My Wife - Wow, What can I say Chris Rocks honesty in the screenplay is downright unearving, for both men and women. Worth the rent, most definately.

The Kingdom - Great, just a great movie.

The Last Mimzy - Sorry folks this was a flop, and it is sad because Rainn Wilson is one of my favorite character actors.

The Mist - Fun and scary, but remember folks it all takes place in one grocery store so you will be seing a lot of groceries. and also the ending was contrived and dishonest.

Mr. Brooks - Dane Cook aside I really enjoyed this movie. William Hurt was amazing.

Peaceful Warrior - Ok as a whole, but there are some very powerful single scenes , the highlight for me was the robbery.

Resident Evil 3 - Great Zombie killin' fun.

The Reaping - Actually a very interesting story.

Rescue Dawn - Unfortunately not that great. Sorry, I hate to say it, but i only finished it because I rented it and wanted to get my 5 bucks worth.

Shoot Em Up - It is like a bloody amusement ride. Mix of John Woo and any american action movie ever.

Shooter - Predictable and unoriginal, but still manages to hold your interest. Pretty intense torture scene.

Superbad - Filthy and Crass and Hilarious.

The Ten - Horrible! Warning! Warning! Danger! Very awful movie.

Zodiac - Fincher does it again. He has yet to make a bad movie, save Alien3.

There you go. Hope that helps you at your next trip to Blockbuster.
